Raw Dairy

State Laws

In the state of Tennessee,  raw milk can only be legally acquired in two ways.  It can be sold as for pet use, by farms that are certified as pet food producers.  Or it can be acquired through cow/herd share membership.

The Herd Share

Our farm is set up as a herd share.  If you are interested in joining the herd share, we will ask you to sign a herd share agreement,  in compliance with our state laws.

Choose Your Pick Up Location

We do weekly deliveries in Sneedville, Morristown, Mooresburg, and Rogersville.  You can choose a delivery location that is closest and most convenient for you to pick up your milk.

You can also pick up at the farm Monday through Thursday if that is easier for you.

Herd Share Membership Fee

When you first sign up,  there is a one-time herd share membership fee of $20. This buys you into the herd.

Jar Fee

Since the milk will be supplied in glass half gallon jars with plastic lids, we will ask you to buy a set of jars.  You will need the number of jars according to how much milk you will be getting.  It is also a one-time purchase, since you will be returning your empty jars every week when you pick up your full jars. The cost of the jars is $4 per jar.

Monthly Boarding Fee

After signing up,  you will pay monthly,  according to the amount of milk that you choose to get each week.  We call this the boarding fee, as it covers the cost of feeding,  milking,  and caring for the cows. Our boarding fee is calculated by the month.  We usually ask that you pay for the month around the 1st day of the month.  If you are not able to pick up consistently every week, contact me,  and we can arrange pay as you go.  The option of paying as you go does have a slightly higher price per gallon of milk.

We request that you bring your payment, in an envelope with your name on it, at the beginning of the month.

Price Sheet

For one gallon that you get each week, the monthly cost is $52. The cost is adjusted according to the amount of milk that you choose to get each week. It always comes to $12 per gallon.

Cream and Butter

$16 per quart of cream.

$8 per pint of cream.

$18 per pound of butter.

Here is a quick overview of monthly costs according to the amount of milk that you get each week.
